      3. Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Board Elects Vicki L. Fuller as New Trustee

Princeton, N.J.— The Board of Trustees of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) announced today that it has elected Vicki L. Fuller as a new Trustee, effective April 18, 2023. Ms. Fuller brings to the Board many decades of investment and executive leadership experience as well as for profit and nonprofit board experience. The founder and CEO of VLF Development LLC, a strategic consultancy executing complex institutional advisory assignments, Fuller will be a critical leader in RWJF’s mission of achieving health equity in the United States.

“I am thrilled to welcome Vicki Fuller to our Board of Trustees,” said Richard Besser, MD, president and CEO of the Foundation. “The coming years will be pivotal for advancing RWJF’s pursuit of a Culture of Health and ensuring everyone has the opportunity for health and wellbeing. I am confident that Ms. Fuller’s investment acumen and dedication to centering equity in our work will contribute greatly to our mission.”

“Vicki Fuller has had a profound impact on her field, and the RWJF Board members look forward to having her perspectives shape our work,” said Board chair Kathryn S. Fuller, JD. “Her breadth of professional and managerial experience, including her impact in opening career opportunities for women and people of color, will help RWJF increase its own impact.”

      About the New Trustee

Vicki L. Fuller is the CEO of VLF Development LLC, a strategic consultancy she founded in 2018. As CEO, Fuller oversees the execution of complex institutional advisory assignments. Previously, she had a successful, four-decades-long career in financial services culminating with serving as chief investment officer of the New York State Common Retirement Fund (NYS Common).

“I have admired the Foundation’s mission to improve the health and wellbeing of all in America for many years,” said Fuller. “I look forward to working with the board and sharing my perspectives on how strategic investment and diverse leadership can help drive us toward a Culture of Health.”

VLF Development is resourced to provide expert investing and operations advice as well as executive leadership optimization across all financial and strategic areas of institutions. An in-demand keynote speaker and workshop facilitator, Fuller has been retained to provide expert counsel, strategic insight, and critical analysis on matters related to global investment trends, talent development, culture and society, and social justice. She is a committed mentor for the next generation of corporate executives and board directors.

From 2012 to 2018, Fuller served as chief investment officer at NYS Common, the third-largest public pension fund in the United States with more than $216 billion in assets during her tenure. At NYS Common, Fuller was successful in building and executing investment strategies to ensure the fund continued to deliver superior returns for more than 1 million employees and retirees. Under her leadership, the fund generated a nearly 2 percent annualized premium to its required rate of return.

Prior to NYS Common, Fuller had a 27-year career at AllianceBernstein, a global investment manager with more than $500 billion in assets under management at the time. At AllianceBernstein, Fuller was managing director, portfolio manager, and a senior member of the business development team providing institutional investor client service coverage. Prior to AllianceBernstein, Fuller held senior analyst and associate roles at Standard and Poor’s and Morgan Stanley.

Fuller is a director of Ariel Alternatives, Blackstone Credit, Fidelity Investments, Gusto, Treliant, and a member of the Equity Alliance Advisory Board. She is also a Roosevelt University Trustee and a member of the New York University Stern Executive Board.

Fuller earned a BSBA from Roosevelt University and an MBA from the University of Chicago. She is a certified public accountant and a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors. In her free time, Fuller is an avid cross country horseback rider and passionate writer authoring her memoir.
