Everyone wants high quality, respectful, and affordable healthcare. When doctors and hospitals seek to reduce racial disparities in health, they often fix persistent problems that affect all patients.

This brief outlines evidence and examples that demonstrate how equity strategies lead to better care for everyone, including:

      • Addressing racial disparities in maternal health benefits all birthing patients and their children.
      • Eliminating racially biased algorithms in healthcare improves quality of care for all patients.
      • Removing barriers to cancer care improves outcomes for all patients.
      • Language access services are needed by people of all races and make the healthcare system more efficient for all patients.
